| This website, www.AntiRacism.net, is the "internet arm" of ... ARDC -- The Anti-Racism & Diversity Committee of the Unitarian Universalist District of Metropolitan New York, serving the Tristate Area (southeastern NY, northern NJ, and southwestern CT.) The undoing of racism is clearly an enormous and ongoing task, yet one to which our denomination, the Unitarian Universalist Association (see www.UUA.org), has whole-heartedly dedicated itself. Recognizing that each congregation is on its own unique "journey toward wholeness," the Anti-Racism and Diversity Committee (ARDC) of the Metro District works to nurture and support the broad range of diversity and anti-racism work being done within our district. Through networking and bringing together the multitude of ideas, talents and resources that we offer each other, the ARDC works to assist our congregations in whatever ways they find most useful and empowering. The District Board of Trustees makes the work of the ARDC possible both with its funding and encouragement. To do this we will: * Develop knowledge, tools and skills to dismantle racism. * Create and sustain opportunities in which we, and others, can be empowered to dismantle racism. * Support each other as we share our collective knowledge of racism and actions to dismantle it. As we do this work we will: * Acknowledge historical actions and denials that make up our individual, institutional and societal experiences. * Celebrate diversity and differences as we seek solutions to conflict with patience, grace and courage. * Engage in spiritual care of ourselves and others. * Remain engaged and committed to dismantling racism. * Be ever mindful of the need to be in right relationship with each other as we engage in this work. |
