The workshop creates support networks and survival strategies while encouraging a common analysis of racism that prepares People of Color to provide anti-racist leadership in congregations, districts, and the UUA. Beyond Categorical Thinking Program (BCT) Website: www.uua.org/programs/idbm/bct The Beyond Categorical Thinking Program (of the Identity-Based Ministries) helps congregations in the ministerial search process to identify unconscious biases related to ability/disability, gender identification/expression, race/ethnicity, and sexual orientation when considering ministerial candidates. Identity-Based Ministries Website: www.uua.org/programs/idbm The UUA’s Identity-Based Ministries Office works collaboratively with UUA staff groups, and consults with continental committees, affiliates, and constituents to develop resources that educate UU congregations about how to confront institutional and cultural ableism, classism, heterosexism (homophobia), and racism. Ministries of this staff group focus on advocacy, education, and support. The Identity-Based Ministries includes (among others) the Beyond Categorical Thinking Program and the Racial and Ethnic Concerns Program Office (see separate entries for these two.) Jubilee World Workshop Website: www.uua.org/programs/justice/antiracism/jubilee_creating.html The "Creating A Jubilee World" Weekend Workshop helps UU congregations dismantle racism by allowing participants to examine both personal and institutional racism, and by empowering them to develop a realistic plan that can move their congregations forward in working for racial justice. Weaving the Fabric of Diversity: An Anti-bias Program for Adults Website: www.uua.org/re/currmap/fabric.html This curriculum helps participants overcome bias and celebrate diversity through telling their stories and listening to others. The goal is to examine and challenge ableism, racism, heterosexism, ageism, and classism in the safe, caring, and respectful environment of religious community. Whitney M. With the establishment of the program “Journey Toward Wholeness Sunday,” congregations across the continent are holding special JTW Sundays, during which they take up a special collection for the Whitney M. Young Jr. Urban Ministrty Grants and to support their own racial justice work. Participating congregations send 1/3 of the funds they raise to the UUA to help support Whitney Young Urban Ministry Grants.
