Building Intentionally Diverse Congregations:
Led by Rev. Anthony Johnson and Dr. Barbara Coley. A discussion of - not lectures on - vision, research, experience and your questions.

Anti-racism 101:
Janice Marie Johnson.  The goal of this workshop is to create a safe environment for exploring issues moving towards creating anti-racist sensibility and accountability. The premise is that anti- racism can be learned, and celebrated.

Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible:
Myrtle Hepler, President, Thomas Jefferson UU District. Filmed interviews with white people who tell how they became aware of and accepted that they are privileged because of the color of their skin.  It also treats internalized racism and healing.  Facilitated discussion.

Addressing the Injustice of the Criminal Justice System:
Eddie Lopez, Senior Community Organizer, New York Lawyers for Public Interest.  Of the over 1.9 million adults incarcerated in the U.S. 63% are Black and Latino, although they are only 25% of the population. The Criminal Justice System is a blatant example of racism.  Presentation and discussion.

AFTERNOON WORKSHOPS:

Multicultural Families/Families of Color:
Continued.

Bringing Anti-racism into Worship:  Rev. Michael Tino.  How do principles of ant-racism and anti-oppression apply to worship?  Misappropriation, multiculturalism, and meaning-making intersect in this discussion.

Little Rock Nine...Fifty Years of Change:
Paul Glatzer.  Just what can the experiences of nine black students  and the response of some white students tell us about our capacity to change, grow and overcome the past? What  can be, what might be, what hopefully could be if we examine the past.  Presentation and facilitated discussion.

Religious Education and Anti-racism:  Douglas Zelinski.  "As long as there are children, there is hope. Each generation brings with it another chance to restore balance and grace in our world."  Ways to raise non-racist children and youth.
